Happy Canada Day from the Archives!

In celebration of Canada’s 148th birthday, here’s the music and lyrics for a patriotic song “My Own Canadian Home.” Has anyone heard this song before?  It was written by E.G. Nelson and composed by Morley McLaughlin, was very popular throughout the late 1800s and beyond. In 1967, it was adopted by the city of Saint John, NB as its official song. History of Yarmouth Pastoral Charge

The Beacon Pastoral Charge, Yarmouth consists of Beacon United Church in Yarmouth, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Methodist: Yarmouth was at one time known as Port Fourchu, but was being called Yarmouth as early as 1759. In 1810, a Yarmouth resident named Anthony Landers began holding Methodist meetings in his house in Hebron. Eventually, a minister, Robert Alder, was sent to Yarmouth in 1816.
