3. Village in the East Workshops

Liked the Blanket Exercise?  Want to go deeper in understanding Indigenous history, culture, and relations to settlers?

You will love the “Village” exercise!

This workshop focuses on the social structures of “the village” – the traditional ways within indigenous communities pre-contact.  In this workshop every participant takes part in an exercise that demonstrates the wisdom and interconnections between traditional indigenous values, community and family structures, governance, spirituality and worldviews. Then it shows how the forces of colonization broke these down. Kathi Camilleri facilitates the exercise and extensive debriefing in a gentle, thoughtful, capable manner and also invites exploring revival and reclaiming those deeply held values that supported healthy communities, peoples, and relationship with Earth.

It is a valuable teaching tool for social workers, university staff and students, clergy, church leaders, really anyone who seeks to have a deeper understanding of the wide reaching issues affecting indigenous people in our area.

Kathi Camilleri will be in the Maritimes from Sept. 23rd – 30th. Workshops are scheduled for Nova Scotia Monday and Tuesday, Sackville, NB on Thursday, and in Fredericton on Friday and Saturday.  Look for an opportunity near you.

4. Fall Email Retreat – Earth Gratitude

Beginning with a Welcome Email on September 12. In this four week email retreat series, we celebrate the season of creation and deepen our thankfulness for the gift of life.

This Retreat series will invite you on a journey into the heart of gratitude. There will be wisdom readings to sit with, reflections to ponder, questions for journalling and taking you deeper, and there are gratitude practices to explore. You spend time with your retreat when you are able. Some participants like to set aside one block of time a week; others work on it a bit each day or integrate it with established practices. There is no right way. Choose activities that feel right to you to explore. I offer a variety of choices for different prayer personalities and time commitments. Based on the work of Diana Butler Bass, Robin Wall Kimmerer and various praise poets.
