1. Condolences – Jean Agnes Kingston

Sympathy is extended to the family of Jean Agnes Kingston who passed away on September 14, 2018 in Fredericton.  Jean is the widow of the late Rev. Harold Kingston.

Funeral service was held Saturday, September 22nd at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, 224 York Street, Fredericton. Burial of ashes at Elmwood Cemetery in Moncton.

2. Affirming Ministry Celebration at Sackville United Church

Sackville United Church invites the churches of Maritime Conference to celebrate with them in becoming an Affirming Ministry of the United Church of Canada on September 30th.  While we recognize that you may not be able to join us on September 30th perhaps you could use one of the vehicles mentioned in the letter below to send us your greetings on this milestone in our life together as a community of faith.

3. United in Learning Webinar on Archives and Artefacts

Do you have questions about church archives and artefacts? Curious about what should or should not be sent to the archives? Wondering about what are the possible options for church artefacts that no longer have a church home? Interested in how we can retain the history represented by church artefacts even if we cannot keep them all? To address all these topics and more, United in Learning is offering a webinar entitled “HELP! What do I do with all this STUFF?”

5. NS Vital Statistics Announcement

As some of you may be aware, there is a potential Canada Post work stoppage, which significantly impacts how Vital Statistics in Nova Scotia receives its required information.

Please do the following,

  • Do not send anything, including pre-paid envelopes, through Canada Post.
  • Please drop off any completed Marriages licences and registrations in a sealed envelope to the attention of “Vital Statistics Deputy Registrar General” to their nearest Deputy Issuer or at their local Access Nova Scotia Centre.

  • The completed marriage license and registrations will be delivered to Vital Statistics, located at 300 Horseshoe Lake Drive in Halifax.

6. Maritime Progressives – November 15 & 16

Maritime Progressives are meeting on Nov 15 & 16 at Tatamagouche.  This will be brief check in time to see where people are, to reflect on some of the events/ readings/ ponderings we’ve been having, and reconnect the group. Bring resources to share. We’ll have musicians Dana Pardy and Kevin Parks with us. If you’ve not been to our other gatherings please feel free to join us. Deadline: October 31st

8. One-Day Introductory Godly Play Workshop

Saturday, October 27 from 9:45am- 3:30pm:   Cost is $20.

at the Godly Play Space at First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford Street, Halifax, NS

  • Godly Play is a creative approach to nurturing children’s faith.
  • It values process, openness, discovery, community and relationships.
  • It supports children in being more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

In this Introductory Workshop Participants will:

  • Experience a full Godly Play session and explore the Godly Play method.
  • Explore a Godly Play space.
  • Look at the pattern of a Godly Play session and the key elements of Godly Play
  • Discuss how to adapt Godly Play principles for use with Sunday School, in children’s stories, worship, and pastoral care.

This day is open to all whether you are a leader or parent or you just love hearing stories.
