Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat's bestselling book Spiritual Literacy: Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life is an unprecedented collection of "aha!" passages by teachers of all spiritual traditions that reveal the sacred meanings in today's world. Now available as a DVD series, 6 DVDs, 26 sessions. Topics are organized around a new alphabet of 26 spiritual qualities of mind and heart for practicing spirituality in everyday life. Reflection and discussions questions are offered for each session, as well as suggestions for possible practices.  The Spiritual Literacy series was produced in Canada and aired as a television series on the Vision channel. Each volume offers a stand-alone study.

Spiritual Literacy: Volume 3 (IJKLM)

Volume 4 (NOPQ): Nurturing; Openness; Play; Questing

  • Nurturing: By taking care of ourselves we take care of others-and vice versa. Little Sabbaths in our homes and gardens, with animals and friends, are renewing.
  • Openness: To receive the gifts of the universe, we need to empty ourselves. A writer learns this through conversations with God; another, while sharing stillness with a bird.
  • Play: All the world’s a playground. We sense this in the joyful dance of a child loping like a filly through the living room and a skater racing across a pond in the moonlight.
  • Questing: A spiritual journey takes us from where we are to who we really are. Along the way, we traverse familiar and unknown places and meet remarkable teachers.
